The 2023 college football season opens up in a big way starting this week with 19 games on the schedule featuring teams in the AP top 25 rankings and following a Week 0 opening day that saw Notre Dame and USC win big. We have two free picks for our regular members. We want to emphasize that these are not our strongest picks so bet wisely on them. If you want our strongest picks then you are advised to check out our premium packages via the button below. Tennessee Volunteers @ Virginia Cavaliers This is a heavy number and Virginia will be shooting for respect in the first game of Year 2 under Elliot, but this Tennessee offense this season should once again be terrific with Joe Milton assuming the reins at quarterback. I don’t have much faith in Virginia this year. Only six Power Five teams bring back less returning production than the Cavs, and it’s even worse on offense where they bring back the 123rd-most returning production in the entire FBS. The Cavs also have the misfortune of opening against Tennessee, a team that’s going to put up points in bunches and was awesome last year ATS; Tennessee went 10-3, the fourth-best mark in the FBS. My prediction for this one is that Tennessee's defense is actually the post-game lead. No team in the SEC will start more seniors on that side of the football and their first test is a favorable one. Pick: Tennessee Volunteers -28 (-110) Units: 1 unit West Virginia Mountaineers @ Penn State Nittany Lion I really do wonder how West Virginia will consistently move the ball in this matchup. The Mountaineers are going to be a run-first offense to an extreme degree. But Penn State had a top 13 rushing defense last and projects again to have an excellent front seven. And if the Mountaineers are forced to throw … the Nittany Lions have one of the nation’s best secondaries. I think West Virginia is going to be better than people expect, but this is a brutal Week 1 matchup.
Pick: Penn State Nittany Lions -20.5 (-110) Units: 1 unit Goodluck to everyone who tails! IPKbettingteam
